Fort Gotten Episode 1: Post-Launch Update from the Fort

Hello Kidz! We’re here to give you a general update on the project. A lot has happened since the last time we did a full-blown update, so here is a little overview of everything that is going on in Fort Gotten, past, present, and future.

Before we get into that, huge thanks to everyone who has made this possible! We really appreciate the support and the love you guys have been giving us, it’s really moving to have such an amazing community!

Context

Just to lay down some context, this is being written about a month after the Minting of Episode 1. We are now fully working to bring you Episode 2 and to finish up all the things we had prepared for this episode (and a couple extra fun ideas we had).

We still have many things to do before we launch Episode 2, but it might be coming sooner than you guys expect it, so keep on reading!

Now that Episode 1 is fully minted, we are now able to fully focus on developing Fort Gotten as a project and as a universe! We are fully committed to creating a unique transmedia universe. For us, this has always been much more than just cool art, it’s about the universe, the stories, the interactivity, and the community, and now, we will be able to fully focus on creating the best project we can: now with a bigger team, bigger community and bigger universe.

Team Expansion

We just wanted to touch on this briefly since we already wrote a piece about the art team expansion. But, long story short:

For Episodes 0 and 1, Sampo did literally everything art-related for the project, more than 600 assets from scratch.

It was always our vision to grow Fort Gotten to a small team so we can always up to our game. Now that Episode 1 is fully minted, we have now started to grow the team, and we onboarded 2 full-time team members specifically for the art team. We can’t wait to share everything these guys are doing with Sampo, but oh boy… it’s so cool.

We are also collaborating with local artists to further develop the universe and explore different mediums (such as the comic, the audio piece we did, and merch). For us, this project is about bringing amazing people together in order to create the best things we can! So yeah, stuff is coming along nicely, and we can’t wait to share it.

Finally, regarding the team, we have another important announcement regarding the team! We are finally filling a rather vital piece that was missing in our team.

The Astronaut Kid, the community member who brought you the explorer is officially joining the Fort Gotten team as a developer! While we were able to solve the basics ourselves, we never really had an actual blockchain developer, so this will be a great addition to the team. Hopefully, with these, we will be able to streamline a lot of the things we were doing (manually) and build a lot of the things we have in mind!

So yeah, the Fort Gotten Team is now double the size (6 people) and we are currently collaborating with another 3 local artists!

About Episode 1

So, Episode 1… Woah, we sold out in just over an hour… that was CRAZY. Thanks to everyone who showed up and supported this mint. We could have never imagined that was going to happen, so once again, thanks!

A lot of people joined the community, it has been really nice seeing everyone getting into the universe and playing along on Discord! We love how responsive and active the community has been, and thanks to everyone who is sticking by and making the Discord an amazing place to hang out in.

Now that the children of the forest have been remembered, it’s all about exploring and growing the universe from here: activities, lore, stories, and more. We still have many plans before Episode 2: Another Comic Volume, Merch Drop, and other activities that will enable us to discover the World of Fort Gotten! We are taking everything we had planned and spoke of and making sure we deliver.

Speaking of activities, we really appreciate everyone who has been actively participating in the activities! We’ve also heard the feedback, some of them are too hard and time-consuming, and not everyone has the availability to participate in them.

We are taking all those comments into account to develop future activities. There will always be activities that require high involvement, it’s just part of how we always envisioned the project, but there are more things coming!

Also, another thing we heard is that sometimes it is kind of hard to keep track of everything that is going on, and it can be a bit overwhelming for newcomers to join the community, so we are also trying to make that better!

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to give us feedback, we truly appreciate it and we are always reading!

Lastly, about this first episode, there is one thing we would like to address, the donations! Since the inception of the project, we knew we wanted to give back a part of the profits to our community, specifically to the kids of our country, El Salvador. We really want to make this count, and we are currently in talks with a super cool partner to make the best out of the donations we might be able to give away, so please stay tuned for more news soon.

About Episode 2

We are already hard at work so we can bring this as soon as possible! With the new art team, things and assets are turning out super cool! We will start sharing our progress soon, so hold on tight to your seats and stay tuned to Discord and Twitter.

This drop is all about expanding the universe, so now that you guys know the forest and the camps, we will start learning more about the world, maybe the kidz outside the forest have some other insight about the Fort Gotten World!

Please remember that for us, the project has always been a universe filled with diverse kidz from many different places, and every episode will enable us to further develop the world, the lore, and the stories about it.

What we have been doing right now is only the start of everything we have planned… We really can’t wait to share more, and lots will start to be shared soon!

Closing Thoughts

That was a small update about what’s going on inside the Fort, behind the scenes. Thanks to you, we are now slowly transitioning to making this our full-time project with Sam & Roberto, we never would have thought this would be possible so soon.
